Our season begins with a trip back to the 1960’s and the music of Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton and Buddy Rich. These bands no
longer played music for dancing. Ballrooms were replaced by concert halls filled with music written, arranged and played by a new generation of young
jazz musicians. That wasn’t the only change, Big Band vocalists were now a thing of the past. Singers were now solo acts, they had their own recording contracts and songs written for them by the finest composers available. Expect to hear songs made famous by the likes of Cilla Black, Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and Matt Monroe.
